Some benefits you may gain from floating include:
- Relaxation response
- Heightened senses
- Increased immune function
- Anti-gravity benefits
- Musculoskeletal benefits
- Magnesium absorption
- Pain management
- Enhanced healing/rejuvenation
Stress is more complex than simply being concerned about something going on in your life. Stress is also a physical experience with direct ramifications on the body.
When we are stressed, our muscles are tense. When our brains receive stress signals, they prepare the body for a fight or flight by producing higher levels of hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. Those hormones set off a chain of responses, like tensing our muscles and quickening heart rate. But when the cause of our stress isn't something we have to outrun or battle (which is often the case in today's world) and that stress doesn't dissipate quickly, we're left with tense, achy muscles and discomfort.
Physically floating provides relief to those achy muscles and joints experiencing true relaxation in a float pod, enjoying zero pressure as you float effortlessly in highly concentrated salt water. A huge amount of brain power is used every second in order to deal with the strain that gravity places on one's body.
Floating removes this stress and perfectly supports your body. The sulfates in the Epsom sales assist with flushing out toxins and providing detox from the body's cells, hence lowering the accumulation of harmful substances. By adding minerals like magnesium and sulfate to your bath water, it triggers a process called reverse osmosis, which actually pulls salt out of your body and harmful toxins with it.
The ultra-deep relaxation provided by floating resets the body's hormonal and metabolic balance, strengthening resistance to and accelerating recovery from the effects of stress, illness, injury, or strenuous exercise.
From migraines to arthritis to backaches, pain can, unfortunately, come in all shapes and sizes. The good news is that flotation therapy offers relief to many kinds of pain: effortlessly floating with zero pressure on muscles and joints, supplemented by stress reduction and enhanced sleep, can work wonders for relieving pain.
The space inside the pod is 4 ft wide by 7.5 ft long. You are in complete control and can open the door and go in/out as you would like. You can also float with the door open.
How often should I float?
You can float every day without harm. We find that the relaxing effects of a one-hour float typically lasts beyond one day! For best results, we recommend regular sessions, and many clients find that floating once or twice a week provides the most benefits.
Do I wear anything in the Pod?
We recommend that you float in your birthday suit! It is a private experience and you have the room to yourself.
What do I need to prepare?
- Try not to shave right before arriving
- Remove your contacts prior to floating (bring a container to store them in)
- Refrain from caffeine before your float
- Ladies - if you are on your menstrual cycle, give us a call to reschedule
- Permanent hair color (this can be highlights, blond, brunette, covering gray, etc.) - there is generally no issue floating. This type of color opens the hair shaft and applies new color within the cuticle, which permanently changes the composition of the hair
- If you use Keratin treatments - it is recommended that you avoid salt water which our pod is filled with
- Demi or semi-permanent color - beautiful shades of red, blue, purple, green or pink: Unfortunately, you cannot float for several weeks after application. With our guidelines, you must wait until the water runs clear and the dye does not come off in the shower or when you towel dry your hair.
- You should avoid floating your first trimester
- You should avoid floating if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- You should avoid floating if you are unable to control bodily functions such as urination or defecation
- You should avoid floating if you have recently had a tattoo or spray tan
- You should avoid floating if you have severe claustrophobia
- You should avoid floating if you have epilepsy, congestive heart failure, or have diabetes
Our staff is not trained to assist in transferring in and out of the tub. A contamination fee of $500-$1,500 may be enacted for voluntary and/or involuntary release of bodily fluids, communicable or infectious diseases, oils, creams, and hair dyes in the float solution that results in replacement, cleaning and loss of income for closing the Pod.
Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your float appointment to complete waivers and orientation for the float room.
We provide towels, earplugs, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. (Conditioner to be used after float). A private shower is located in the room and cleaned and sanitized between each float. If you have small cuts or skin irritations, we have petroleum jelly that can be used in small amounts to help block the salt water.
